I have to admit: I love electronic junk. PC components, old cell phones, gadgets of all kinds — I'm a junk hunter, and my motto is "small money, excellent effect." Some people think old tech is worthless, and honestly, I'm grateful they do. If everyone treasured their old possessions, the second-hand market wouldn't exist. Without it, my life would lose one of its brightest joys — the thrill of digging through piles of discarded hardware to find something precious. There's an amazing feeling when garbage turns into treasure in an instant. Just minutes ago, it was worthless, sitting in a corner nobody cared about. Now it's mine.
Technology keeps advancing — CPU cores go from one to two to four. But here's the thing: back in the single-core days, those CPUs could already handle most everyday tasks with ease. Still, Intel and AMD keep pushing faster, smaller products. It sounds great, but it feels unfair. Consumers shouldn't have to pay for performance they don't need. The rich and the benchmarking fanatics chasing 3DMark scores or maxing out the latest games — they're a different breed. Most people don't realize that upgrading your PC components every few months is just burning money. Sure, they think their new machine feels faster. But for paperwork, browsing, and watching movies, the old one does the same job. Meanwhile, all those discarded parts — CPUs, graphics cards, hard drives, RAM — flow into the second-hand market, most of them still in perfect working condition. I want a machine with monster capability at a friendly price. Junk hunting is the way.
ThinkPad is my favorite brand. And I mean the original — IBM. Not because I dislike Lenovo, but since they took over, the brand's reputation has slipped. The T43 is IBM's final masterpiece, pure-blooded. The T60, T61, T400 — their industrial design just didn't measure up. No matter how powerful they are, they never quite captured that classic feel. The T43's architecture is a bit dated, sure, but the Pentium M handles daily work just fine. Plus, it's cheap at the junk shop. If you're lucky, you might find a mint-condition one. Like I said: small money, excellent effect.
