Mama said staying home was the reasonable choice, especially with this hot, dry summer.
So I slept all afternoon and memorized maybe fifty new words. It's frustrating — what you remember always fades after a few days. My tutor once said you have to review old knowledge, especially new vocabulary. That's the key to learning efficiency. Sharpening the axe won't interfere with cutting the firewood. It's true, and I should follow it.
When I was young, I had all sorts of foolish ideas. I thought a person should be able to figure things out on their own, without help. Doing math exercises alone. Ignoring the English teacher and staring at a textbook, convinced grammar was useless. Time passed, and clearly, I was wrong.
A lot of people believe fate decides everything — happiness or misfortune. I used to despise that kind of thinking. Now I think it's... a philosophy of life. Destiny. No one can escape it, and no one has unlimited power to achieve their grand ambitions. Einstein said there are two ways to live: as if nothing is a miracle, or as if everything is a miracle. His view is a bit extreme. But everyone should have their own castle — a place where you can live like a child, ignoring the noisy world where clowns perform on a carnal stage. Miracles don't happen every day. But we shouldn't live waiting for them either. In the end, a man is just a man.
I found an interesting word today: self-abuse. Masturbate is the verb. Before, I only knew its slang. "Self-abuse" is such a vivid term. Someone on Mop described the relationship between men and their... you know. When they can't have the real thing, they abuse themselves instead. Different approaches, same result. Very descriptive.
We're going to have a buffet at noon. Little bun, I'm coming.
